Talks and Posters

Please click the following links to download the abstracts for the conference Book of abstracts and Full abstracts.

Each student wanting to attend IONS Québec 2016 must submit a scientific abstract related to their research work. The template for this document is given in the registration section of this website. A committee of graduate students and professors having expertise covering different fields will evaluate every submitted abstract. The categories are:

  • Laser science and ultrafast optics
  • Photonics sensors and biomedical optics
  • Nonlinear optics
  • Semiconductors and integrated photonics
  • Telecommunications
  • Optical engineering

If your research work is not covered by one of these topics, please apply by selecting the closest category. Selected participants will be invited to present either a 15-minute talk or a poster (maximum size: 2x1m landscape orientation, i.e. larger than it is high) during the event. Our goal is to have roughly 50 talks and 50 posters for a total of 100 participants. In order to reach the largest possible audience, all posters and talks must be presented in English. Furthermore, note that the IONS conference is an inclusive environment that aims to give all students a chance to present their work! It is not necessary to present work that is complete or has been published.

20 grants of $500CAD will be awarded to the students who submitted the best abstracts, as judged by the evaluation committee, and to the students coming from abroad. We encourage you to also consider additional reimbursement for travel costs from other sources such as from your own institution. Moreover, there will be contests for the best talks and the best posters during the event!
